Q.Have I brought this on myself by worrying?
A. There is not the slightest doubt that worry brings on stress and that stress can have a large impact upon skin condition and ailments
Q. Could I have caught this off a relative or friend?
A.There is absolutely no proof nor indication that these skin conditions are contagious and none of my friends have been stricken since my own diagnosis
Q.Are these skin conditions hereditary, that is do they pass through families?
A.There is no positive proven link but one would be very presumptive to say that there was not sometimes a family predisposition to skin problems.
Q. Could I have prevented this occurring?
A. The simple answer is no you could not.
Q. Is there any link between my skin condition and the cosmetics and other things I use on my skin?
A. Most certainly some substances can aggravate skin conditions and may even precipitate them.
Q. Can skin conditions such as these be caused by prescription drugs?
A. There is no simple answer to this as ones body can react adversely to many drugs etc. In my case the cause of my condition was given as a reaction to blood thinning drug.
Q.Will it ever clear up?
A. Probably not entirely, but there may be periods of remission and there again it does clear up with some folks.
Q.Will my condition lead to other complaints occurring?
A. Not necessarily but there is always a chance of some secondary condition occurring.
Q. Will I have any disfiguring scars?
A.There is a possibility of this but the scars tend to be light and fade away in time.
Q. What can you advise on personal hygiene?
A. This cannot be emphasised too much since any scratching is likely to crack the skin and admit any germs resting on the outer skin. Therefore, a strict hygiene regime of the skin is essential.
Sufferers - or should I call us victims! - will have realised from the above questions that diseases and conditions of this type are notoriously difficult to treat and it is therefore essential to follow your doctor or consultant's advice carefully. It may be a long trek and my thoughts go with you.
